Patient Participation Group

The Group are actively involved with all local issues and meet every month. They have their own Notice Board in the waiting room area which keeps patients informed on past and forthcoming events put on by the Practice or the local community. Along with details on how patients can contact the Group for any items they would like putting on the agenda for discussion.

The Patient Group actively encourages patients to enrol on the locally run Expert Patient Programmes which involve patients with certain chronic diseases (namely – diabetes, COPD, Ischaemic Heart Disease) attending for six weeks in order to learn about their condition, how this can be managed better, the importance of attending surgery for reviews etc.

  • Twelve week chair based exercise and information programme for patients suffering with Mild to Moderate Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease.
  • DVD showing the various exercises and with advice on how to help manage this condition were also distributed in order to maintain the programme after the 12 weeks.
